FIBA issues lifetime bans to two Singapore Adroit players over 2025 Champions League East Asia match manipulation

In a statement issued on 15 July 2026, the Basketball Association of Singapore (BAS) said Oleksandr Kolchenko and Sergii Pryimak had "severely undermined the principles of fair play and impacted the reputation of Singapore basketball".

FIBA found both players guilty of manipulating Adroit's match against New Taipei Kings International.

Kolchenko was also found to have manipulated the club's fixture against Hi Tech Club during the Champions League East Asia in May 2025.

FIBA imposed the lifetime bans on 20 May 2026, prohibiting both players from participating in any FIBA or FIBA-related activities in any capacity.

BAS said the sanctions would also apply to all of its competitions and activities.

"BAS does not condone any actions that could undermine this commitment, and we will continue to actively monitor all sanctioned tournaments and events," the association said.

It added that clubs and athletes representing Singapore basketball were expected to uphold the highest standards of fair play and sporting integrity.

BAS said it maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy against match-fixing and would not hesitate to take disciplinary action against anyone found to have compromised the integrity of the sport.

The announcement follows a broader investigation into alleged match manipulation in Singapore basketball.

Last year, the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau arrested nine people suspected of involvement in fixing matches in the K. Star National Basketball League Division 1.

Several of those investigated were players competing in the 2025 season and were suspended from official basketball activities by Sport Singapore.

One of the matches under investigation was the 1 August 2025 fixture between Tagawa and Tong Whye, which Tagawa won 66-43.

Adroit players who had been suspended during the investigation later featured in the competition's semi-finals, prompting the final to be postponed. The club was subsequently disqualified from the tournament.
