SINGAPORE: DBS Bank's PayLah! service experienced an hours-long disruption on the evening of 23 July 2026, preventing some users from completing payments and transfers before services were restored in the early hours of the following day.
In an update issued shortly after 9pm, DBS said some PayLah! users were experiencing issues with the service.
The bank advised customers that they could continue using Scan & Pay, transfer funds through the DBS/POSB digibank mobile application, or make payments using their DBS/POSB credit or debit cards.
At 10.35pm, DBS said it was continuing work to fully restore the service.
"Please be assured that any affected transfer/payment amount will be credited back to your PayLah! wallet," the bank said.
Customers report missing PayLah! payments, demand refunds and accountability
Comments posted on DBS' social media pages showed growing frustration as customers reported failed PayLah! transactions.
Several users said money had been deducted from their accounts but did not reach recipients or merchants.
Others said the affected transactions were missing from their payment history, leaving them uncertain about the status of their funds.
Some customers asked when refunds would be processed, while others urged the bank to restore services as quickly as possible.
Others criticised the bank's communication during the disruption, expressed dissatisfaction with customer service, and called for compensation over the inconvenience caused.

Service restored after midnight
DBS announced that PayLah! services had returned to normal at 1.38am on Friday, 24 July 2026, in a Facebook update posted at about 2.40am.
"We appreciate your patience and are sorry for the inconvenience caused," the bank said, reiterating that affected payment or transfer amounts would be credited back to customers' PayLah! wallets.
Outage monitoring website Downdetector recorded 17 user reports as of 11.04pm, after reports had earlier peaked at 56 at 8.49pm.

Previous digital banking disruption
The latest incident follows another disruption involving DBS' digital services on 19 March 2026, when customers were unable to log into online banking platforms for several hours during lunchtime.
Responding to a parliamentary question after that outage, Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong said investigations found that an "erroneous step" during a system change had caused the disruption.
Gan added that the Monetary Authority of Singapore would follow up with DBS to strengthen the bank's change management process.
